The Man Book by Otto DeFay

Posted in Things for the Man Cave on September 23, 2008 by mancaverblog

“This book contains everything you need to know to be a man.Everything. It will prepare you for every situation you can imagine, from the office to the bedroom. It will improve your life no matter what you’re doing…whether you’re in a bar, in a fight, in a wedding, in an argument, at a game, at work, or in a stranger’s bed.”

This book contains material that all men should know. It covers humorously at times  names for man’s private part, breast sizes, differences between scotch, whiskey, bourbon, etc, the super bowl, field positions, sowerbowl MVPS, poker, the basics of wine, and etc.

Its an interesting and entertaining book to read and will improve your manliness.
Thumbs Up for the Man Cave!

James Nardello’s Man Cave

Posted in Remodeling the Mancave on September 18, 2008 by mancaverblog

James writes:

“All places need to have a man-cave.  Period.
Musical Instruments, a mini-fridge filled with
beer, records, toys and chicks everywhere on
the walls.  That’s how it works.  Claim the space,
throw away other stuff, and own it.  Modify your
3-car garage into a 2-car garage
and have a Manrage à Trois!
My man cave needed musical instruments.
It needed some deep man-colors, and it needed lots of pictures and LP’s on the wall.  A wall mounted bottle opener and cap-catcher is key to a perfect man-bar.  A good sound system and a wipey board for daily thoughts or MCQ’s (Man-Cave Quotes).
I hope you like my cave, and I hope to see pictures of yours!
Now, go ask your wife and…Good luck.”

Doug Baker’s Man Cave

Posted in Remodeling the Mancave on September 18, 2008 by mancaverblog

Doug Baker has a very cool mancave. His basement was transformed to a fun room. The most impressive  area was the room where he had  the projection TV. Watching a movie was like going to the theatre. The movie was shown on the whole wall  and  had large speakers that rattled the couch you sat on.  Of course he had a popcorn machine  for when you got hungry. Why the Egyptian mummy?  Doug thought it was cool and might decorate the basement with an Egyptian theme.

Football Stadium Man Cave

Posted in Remodeling the Mancave on September 18, 2008 by mancaverblog

This OSU fan created a shrine for the buckeyes in his rec room. He hired a mural artist to paint the Buckeye Horseshoe stadium on the wall and on the ceiling of his basement. The owner went to an OSU game and took photos of the stadium from the highest vantage point & from every angle. The artist then translated the views of the stadium to the walls of the basement. It took the artist around 4 months to complete the project. The biggest problem was trying to paint an oval stadium to a square room. Other problems included painting the windows of the press box and all of the people. The owner wanted astro turf on the floor but settled for an all weather boat deck carpet. The scoreboard ended up being the location of the 42 inch screen TV. The owner can now watch the football game in the “shoe” without leaving his home. The owner is excited to get the 2008 season started and wow his friends when they see the “stadium.”

We at 2themancave salute the owner & the artist.

Beer Bottle Goblets

Another way to be green!

Taking recycling to the next level, Beer Bottle Goblets have been crafted from reclaimed Sol, Corona, Grolsch bottles. How? Glass artisans carefully cut away the base, polish the edges and then bond a base to the bottom  of the bottle to form a ‘foot’. The result is a green or crystal clear, satisfyingly sturdy goblet for your favorite suds. The Grolsch verion is probably the nicest, because of the shape & detail thats on the bottle. They have only 3 styles at the moment.

Great for your man cave bar!

To Keg or Not to Keg? That is the question.

Posted in Things for the Man Cave on September 1, 2008 by mancaverblog

First you have to determine what kind of beer drinker are you and how much you entertain. We know that beer from a kegerator tastes the best, but having a keg all of the time may have its limitations.  Keg beer is not pasteurized and does not last long. Keg beer with just a tap connected only lasts a night or so. That is why keg beer should always be stored cold and having a good CO2 system is a must.  You could always tell your wife, “Honey, the guys & I have to finish the keg before it gets stale.” That will go over big…right?

From the brewery, a tapped keg kept cold and under pressure usually lasts about 3 to 4 months. It’s also important to keep your lines clean. There are many sizes of kegerators, ones that that usually holds a full keg or a  ½ keg (pony keg) are the norm. They also have ones that hold 5 liters of Heineken of Krups and may last up to 30 days.

Other choices would be a fridge, a mini fridge, or getting a soda machine that dispenses pop and your favorite beer.

2 the Bat Cave

Posted in Remodeling the Mancave on September 1, 2008 by mancaverblog

This is one of coolest mancaves I have seen. I think Batman’s home theatre would look like this one. For just around $500,000, your home theater can be transformed into these caverns (courtesy of Elite Home Theater Seating.)

The AV equipment isn’t included in the price! I’m sure that whom ever can afford this cave can afford the gear.

Although this home theater may be out of most of our leagues. I hope this may inspire and give you some ideas for your man cave. You may want to get away from traditional remodeling and try something fantastic.
